A Night to Remember

Anna had just arrived at her friend Elena’s house for a sleepover. They had been planning it for weeks and were both very excited. After they had made themselves comfortable on Elena’s bed and exchanged some gossip, they decided to watch a movie.

Halfway through the film, Elena’s younger brother Miguel came into the room to say goodnight. He gave Elena a kiss on the cheek and then went to kiss Anna on the cheek too. Anna was so startled that she jumped up and hit her head on the headboard.

“Ow!” she exclaimed.

“Are you okay?” Miguel asked, looking concerned.

“Yeah, I’m fine,” Anna said, rubbing her head.

She was embarrassed but also secretly happy that Miguel had kissed her. It was the first time a boy had ever done that and she could feel her cheeks flush red. She tried to act nonchalant about it, but she could tell that Elena could tell something was up.

“What was that about?” Elena asked after Miguel had left the room.

“Nothing,” Anna said, blushing. “I just got a little surprised, that’s all.”

Elena smiled!

Miguel, you scared me!” She rubbed her head and then lay back down.

The two girls laughed and Miguel apologized before leaving the room. They finished their movie and then got ready for bed. As they were getting into their pajamas, Elena’s mom called up to them to say goodnight. Elena told her they were already in bed and then she and Anna said goodnight to each other and turned out the lights.

Despite the broken headboard, Anna had a great time at her sleepover and was excited to do it again soon.
