The Climate On Earth
The climate on Earth is changing. Some people believe that it is because of human activity, while others believe that it is a natural phenomenon. There is debate on what is causing the climate to change, but one thing is for sure- the climate is changing.
The average temperature on Earth has risen by 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit since 1880, and it is predicted to rise by another 2-4 degrees by the end of the century. The rise in temperature is causing the ice caps to melt, the sea levels to rise, and extreme weather events to become more common.
The changing climate is having a major impact on the environment, and the way we live our lives. It is important to be aware of the changes that are happening, and to try to do our part to reduce the impact that we are having on the planet.
Allison’s Journey To Self-Love
Allison was a thin girl, and she always felt self-conscious about her weight. She was always the skinniest girl in her class, and she never felt like she fit in. Even her own family made comments about her weight, and it made her feel even more insecure.
One day, Allison decided enough was enough. She was going to start eating healthy and working out, and she was going to finally love her body. She started seeing results within a few weeks, and she felt better than ever before.
However, even though Allison was finally happy with her body, she still felt self-conscious about her weight. She would catch people staring at her, and she knew they were thinking that she was too thin. But she didn’t care anymore. She was finally happy and confident in her own skin.
The Opaque Gaze
The portrait is of a woman,
But her gaze is opaque and lost,
As if she’s looking through you
And not really seeing at all.
The chandelier casts a pallid light,
As if it’s feeding off her power,
And the crystals seem to whisper
As they drizzle down in showers.
The whole scene is ethereal and strange,
And you can’t help but wonder
What secrets does this place hold,
And what stories does the woman know.
Emily, Marcus, and Jake had been best friends since freshman year of college. They had grown close over their mutual dislike of their shared psychology professor, Dr. Johnson. He was a harsh grader and prone to belittling his students in front of the entire class.
So when they received the news that he had been murdered in his office one night, they each felt a sense of relief mixed in with a hint of guilt for their less-than-stellar feelings towards him.
As spring break of their senior year approached, the three decided to take one final road trip together before graduation. They rented a car and planned to drive down the coast, hitting all the hotspots along the way.
On the first night of their trip, they found themselves at a dingy bar in a small town. The drinks flowed freely, and soon they were laughing and reminiscing about their college years.
But as the night wore on, tensions began to rise. Emily started to pull away from the group, lost in thought. Marcus noticed and prodded her for an explanation.
Finally, Emily couldn’t hold back any longer. She had been hiding a secret since the day Dr. Johnson was murdered. She had been having an affair with him.
Marcus and Jake were shocked, but also slightly relieved that they were not the only ones with secrets about Dr. Johnson. Marcus revealed that he had stolen an expensive watch from the professor’s office while Jake confessed to tampering with his research results out of spite.
As the revelations piled up, the tension between the friends grew palpable. They knew that they had to confront their past actions and come clean about everything they had done.
The next day, they drove in silence as they made their way to their next destination. Finally, they pulled over at a scenic lookout point overlooking the ocean.
There, with the sun setting behind them, they each took turns confessing their sins to each other. Tears were shed, apologies were made, and finally a sense of closure settled over the trio.
They knew that they would never forget their dark past or the things they had done, but they could move forward knowing that they had faced their demons together.
As they got back into the car and continued down the coast, they felt a weight lifted off their shoulders. They had each other, and that was enough to face whatever the future held.
It was a hot day and the sun was beating down mercilessly. Mandy had been out in the yard for hours, working on her tan. She was tempted to go inside and cool off with a cold drink, but she didn’t want to break her streak. Finally, she decided to go for a swim.
She dove into the pool and came up a few seconds later, gasping for air. The water was so cold it took her breath away. She swam a few laps to warm up, then got out and lay in the sun for a while longer.
When she went inside, she made herself a tall glass of iced tea. She gulped it down, feeling the cool liquid refresh her. It was just what she needed on a day like this.
If you follow my cookie blog, maybe you’ve read a recent post in which I played with Chocolate Royal icing? I used fat-free cocoa powder (click here to get some) and they worked extremely well not only in icing but as I show today, to make cocoa-flavored macaron shells.
