The River Girl
It was the middle of summer and the heat was unbearable. The only thing that made it tolerable was the thought of the cold water from the river that ran through town. Children were constantly running in and out of the water, screaming and laughing.
One child in particular, a little girl with curly hair, was always there. She would spend hours in the water, swimming and playing. The other children would often tease her and call her names, but she didn’t mind. She loved the river and nothing could keep her away.
One day, while she was playing, she felt something pinch her leg. She ignored it at first, but it happened again and again. She finally looked down and saw a fish swimming between her legs. She laughed and swam away, thinking about how lucky she was to have such an exciting life.
