What is morbid?

morbid (adj.) 1. of, relating to, or resembling death or a corpse. 2. cheerfully interested in or behaved relating to death and disease.

The morbid fascination with death is often present in those who are suicidal. By hopelessly focusing on dark and negative aspects of life, they see death as a way to escape their pain. For some, morbid thoughts and behaviors may be a way to cope with trauma or grief. For others, it may be a sign of a mental health disorder, such as depression or anxiety.
