The Daily Spur-Bus

The Bus Ride

The bus was packed with people, most of them students on their way to school. It was a hot day and the air inside the bus was stuffy. Maggie tried to find a seat but there were none available. She stood in the aisle, holding on to a strap with one hand and holding her heavy backpack with the other. Suddenly, the bus lurched to a stop and she lost her balance, falling into the lap of the woman sitting in the seat next to her.

“I’m so sorry!” Maggie said, quickly getting up.

“It’s quite alright, dear,” the woman said. “Don’t worry about it.”

Maggie smiled and went back to holding on to the strap. She was grateful for the woman’s kindness but she still wished there was a seat available. She felt like she was going to pass out from the heat.

Finally, the bus arrived at the school and Maggie got off, relieved to be in the fresh air. She headed to her first class, trying to forget the uncomfortable bus ride.
