When John signed up to be a volunteer firefighter, he had no idea what he was getting himself into. He had always been a helpful person, and he saw this as a way to give back to his community. Little did he know that he would soon be called upon to put his life on the line to save others.

On his first call, John was dispatched to a house fire. When he arrived on the scene, he could see that the house was fully engulfed in flames. Without hesitation, he ran inside to try to rescue any trapped occupants. Unfortunately, he was unsuccessful and three people died in the fire.

While this was a tragedy, John was proud of himself for having the courage to try to save them. He knew that he had made a difference, even if it wasn’t the outcome that he had hoped for. From then on, he was a hero in his own eyes, and he knew that he would never shy away from helping others, no matter the risks.
