The Option

Catherine walked into the pet store looking for a companion. She didn’t want anything too big or too noisy, just a small and cute animal that she could keep as a pet. As she walked through the aisles, she saw cages filled with various types of rodents, birds, and fish. But nothing seemed to catch her attention.

Just as she was about to give up, the salesperson approached her. “Do you need any help?” he asked.

“Yes,” Catherine replied, “I’m looking for a pet, but I’m not quite sure what I want.”

The salesperson smiled, “Well, we have an option that you might like.”

He led Catherine to a small room at the back of the store. There, she saw a group of cats playing together. One in particular caught her eye. It was a tiny black kitten, sleeping in a corner.

“That’s the one,” Catherine said.

“Are you sure?” the salesperson asked. “We have other options.”

“I’m sure,” Catherine replied. “I think I’ve found my perfect companion.”

And so, Catherine adopted the kitten and named her Option. Option was the best thing that ever happened to Catherine. She would come home every day to be greeted by Option’s purrs and cuddles.

Option was more than just a pet; she was family. Catherine’s life was forever changed by her furry friend, and she was grateful for the option to adopt her.
